Welcome to the all injury/roster addition of Tuesday Twins! Here’s the news:
- Looks like the Twins bullpen will be puke-free for the first part of April, because Ryan O’Rourke is starting the season on the 10-day DL with a “strained left flexor pronator mass” in his forearm near his elbow. I’m not sure why they didn’t just go with bi-lateral elbow weakness, but here we are. Anyway, they actually did an MRI on his elbow and it turned out he did not tear his UCL or something, so that’s cool.
- Craig Breslow came to spring training on a minor league deal, meaning the Twins need to add him to the 40-man roster if they want him to stick around for the regular season. They also need to do it soon, because there’s a quickly approaching opt-out date in Breslow’s contract if they don’t. Thad Levine was coy with reporters this morning, but it appears the plan is to have Breslow take Trevor May’s spot once May is moved to the 60-day DL.
@MikeBerardino was he standing or sitting when he said it?

- See, trips to the 60-day DL can’t be backdated to spring training, which is also an issue for Glen Perkins, who is still rehabbing from his torn labrum. The most he’s done so far this spring, according to Mike Berardino, is 20-pitch bullpen sessions every four days. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say he won’t be ready for opening day, but the real question is how long will he be out? If he opens the season on the 60-day DL, it will give the Twins another spot on the roster, but he won’t be able to come back until June 1st. Seems like a good idea to me...
- Trevor May is getting a second opinion on his torn UCL, but Tommy John’s is still the likely path for him.
- Robbie Grossman will be out for the next five to seven days because he pulled his groin while playing with balls.
- When large human being Pablo Sandoval accidentally stepped on Max Kepler’s hand last Saturday, it apparently went totally numb and was gushing blood.
- Stephen Gonsalves shoulder still hurts.
