Joe Mauer to 15-Day Disabled List

Thin lineup gets thinner.

Prepare for a stretch of time where the starting lineup will look like the lineup from Getaway Day, every day.  Joe Mauer will be joining the walking wounded on the disabled list, as a quad strain was picked up by an MRI on Sunday morning.  He'd been playing through the pain, but with inflamation clearly visible playing through the pain was no longer an option.  In fact, although the DL stint is currently just 15 days, there's no guarantee that Mauer will return when that time ends.

"I don't want to put a time frame on it. I know I'm going on the DL, so it will be at least two weeks. It could be two or it could be more. Hopefully it's not much more."  -Joe Mauer

In no particular order, now would be a great time for:

  1. Justin Morneau to break out of his slump.  Killin' Me Softly indeed.
  2. Torii Hunter to continue hitting the snot out of the ball.
  3. Jason Kubel to find his power stroke.
  4. Michael Cuddyer's back to get better.
  5. Jason Bartlett to start hitting doubles.
Let's go Twins.

Jesse, you forgot #6...
Terry Ryan to loosen his death grip on our bounty of pitching prospects and make a trade for a bat!

HaH
That is AWESOME!

How did you get it to post like that?

Baseball is great because you cant take a knee or kill the clock. You gotta put the ball over the plate and give the other guy his damn shot E Weaver abridged

Just
hosted it in my Photobucket account and then copied/pasted the HTML tag to here. Had to take out the "alt=..." part though, since the board said it doesn't work here.
Replace Nick Punto.

Despite
rayken's art work, I am not having fun right now.  This looks like a badly lopsided team, and a lopsided organization.  Where is the next bat from the minors?  2-3 years away?  And the Twins conservatism with Valencia and Lis means that they might make it to the bigs before they are 30.

Winfree
Is probably the next one. The Twins got good news on that with his shoulder recently, and he's back hitting int New Britain, though as a DH. But we could sure use a right handed hitting DH.
Free Matt Garza.

Bats, bats.....
Maybe it's time to give Garrett Jones a chance.

Is Matt Tolbert a better choice for reserve than Luis Rodriguez.

Do we give Matt LeCroy one last chance?

The bench is even more dismal than the line-up, folks.

Free Kevin Slowey!

Matt Tolbert....
...may be a better choice for a starter than Alexi Casilla or Luis Castillo.  Matt doesn't have that great speed, but since early last year he has been one of the better hitters in the organization.  He began this season on the bench at Rochester with Watkins at short and Casilla at second.  Casilla came up here, Tolbert got to play every day and as of a couple days ago was leading the league with an average flirting with or right at .400Ave.  He was awesome last fall in the AFL, and Mr. Ryan stated on the radio Sunday when asked about whether Tolbert was a potential utility guy (he plays 2B, SS, 3B and I believe all three OF positions), Ryan said NO...he is good enough to be considered a future starter.

Being a future starter is fine...
As long as he starts at 3rd. =P
