White's Back...

ESPN reports that the Twins have reached a preliminary agreement with Rondell White.

On a day when we said goodbye to one of my favorite Twins spanning back to my childhood, we offered a renewed hello to a trouble story from 2006.  Going into last year nobody really believed we would put a strong foot forward by signing a premier DH, but I think most agreed that in White atleast there was some decent chance of success.  And as we all know White dissapointed.  The debate will now continue throughout the rest of the offseason as to whether and how White can be productive.  My personal grievance is that I have no problems with him as a DH, but I'd rather not have him on the field and I'd rather sacrifice some offense in order to protect our young pitching staff.  At this point it is believed by the people making the decisions (namely Ron Gardenhire) that White is best at the plate when he's playing in the field.  And my main concern with that is that if Gardy now decides to DH him for a day he'll play into that notion and perform poorly.  I don't know... we'll see what happens I guess. 2.75 million isn't that much right? I mean it's not like we need a veteran starter or anything...
