Joe Nathan and his agent met with Twins officials on Thursday.
This is the final year in the contract Joe Nathan signed with the Twins in March of 2005. On the record as preferring an extension done before Opening Day in order to avoid an unnecessary off-the-field distractions, he's optimistic. After hearing from his "pessimistic" agent Dave Pepe, Nathan felt a deal is certainly possible.
"If [my agent is] saying that things are going in the right direction, that's a good sign. To get him to say that is always good.'"
Any deal reached is likely to be for four years, and in excess of $40,000,000 including bonuses and incentives.
