Twins Extend Joe Nathan

Premier closer will remain in Minnesota.

News from LEN III's blog reveals that the Twins have signed Joe Nathan to a new four-year contract through 2011, with an option for 2012. The existing contract for 2008 has been voided.

Nathan stands to make $47 million over the next four years, with a $2 million buyout of 2012.  Details on how much that option year would cost Minnesota haven't been revealed.

While there is a no-trade clause involved, it's the exact same one included in Nathan's previous contract.  The limited no-trade clause allows Nathan to pick three clubs to whom he cannot be dealt.

A press conference is scheduled for 3:30 pm CST, so be sure to tune in. More details as they emerge.
