I have it on good authority that Kevin Slowey will start Game 1 of the ALDS this fall, and I don't mind admitting that authority isn't actually my own delusion. Slowey is a bit of a dark horse outside of Minnesota, but those of us who saw him up his game last season understand perfectly well what kind of a hurler this guy can be. He can give hitters a few different looks and, as far as I can recall, has always been as cool as a cucumber on the mound. His keys to success tonight are the same as always: control, location and keeping out of long innings. Go figure.

Carlos Silva

That look on Silva's face hasn't changed in two years, has it? It's like someone walked in and caught him licking melted chocolate off of a candy bar wrapper. That was just in the garbage can. For tonight, Silva will be familiar with a few of the hitters the Twins should be sending out, but there's been a lot of turnover since 2007. If Carlos can be the ground-ball out machine version of himself instead of the guy who allows 17 baserunners too many per game, then this one could still be a contest come the sixth inning.
