Know Thine Enemy: Royals Review
Ah, Glen Perkins. He struggled for the first time last week, battling through five rough innings against the Indians. As in most games it wasn't the chance for an out late in the game that decided the contest, it was a few opportunities in the middle innings. Kansas City has scored two more runs than the Twins so far this year, so to stop a team that's been middle of the pack in run production Perkins will have to do two things: throw strikes and keep the ball in the park. Simple, right?
The Royals counter with Brian Bannister and his sub-1.00 ERA. He said he's figured out a thing or two after his last start against the Jays, which would be to his benefit after walking six in seven innings. Right now the bottom line for Bannister is that he's prevented runs, which is what his job ultimately demands of him, no matter how many guys get on base.
Both of these guys are hittable, and have achieved results far better than what we're used to seeing. It will be interesting to see who shows up tonight.
