Is it just me, or is there some bizarre scheduling going on so far this year? This will be the second two-game series of the week, third of the year. Afternoon games on Wednesday or Thursday on a travel day? Nope.
At any rate, the Baltimore Orioles play host to a mid-week mini-series. Their run production is better than the Twins while their run prevention is worse. Tonight they offer up southpaw Mark Hendrickson. The 34-year old is with his fifth team since entering the league in 2002, and over the last few years has split time between the rotation and the bullpen. Between walks and hits he allows plenty of base runners, so there's no reason the Twins shouldn't be able to KO him early. Of course he hasn't had a good outing since his first start of the year, which means he's probably due. It would figure that tonight would be the night he'd go seven innings and strike out eight without allowing a run. Hendrickson offers a fastball in the upper-80's, a changeup in the lower-80's and a curveball in the mid-70's. Every once in a while he'll mix in a slider/cut fastball.
Minnesota counters with Kevin Slowey, who battled through five rough innings his last time out. The good news is that in his prior two outings he seemed to have gotten his act together, so here's hoping the rough night against Kansas City was just a bump in the road.
