It's hard to be consistently effective when you strike out as few hitters as Blackburn does, but here is is nearly halfway through the 2009 campaign with a chance to shove his ERA under three. His complete game six days ago made is six quality starts in a row, and seven in his last eight. By his own admission he hasn't always had his best stuff over this period, but he's managed to get results nevertheless. The sinker has worked, and when he mixes in the fastball/slider combination while hitting his spots (all the while not being afraid to aim outside the strikezone) he can be hard to lock onto. If you're a fan of defense, tonight is your game to watch, because there shouldn't be too many punch-outs.Lineups
