So says Buster Olney of ESPN.com and Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com, both in virtually identical stories posted last night after midnight. From Olney:
The Oakland Athletics were making steady progress late Thursday night toward a deal that would send veteran shortstop Orlando Cabrera to the Minnesota Twins, a source told ESPN.com.
Hard to say who the Twins might be offering as the deadline nears. One would assume that it's not minor-league third baseman Danny Valencia, who the Twins reportedly refused to part with earlier in the week... but I guess we don't know anything. As noted in the post below, Bill Smith could also be after Oakland 2B Adam Kennedy, though it'd be hard to believe that he'd end up with both middle infielders from the A's.
