Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect #18!

New, 39 comments

In our re-vote for Prospect Seventeen, Billy Bullock was the winner with 79 of 270 votes (29%). Manuel Soliman had 41 votes while Eddie Rosario was third with 37 votes.

I want everyone to know that holding the re-vote wasn't a conspiracy or a group decision. It was solely my decision based on what appeared to be unusual voting patterns. If some of you didn't participate in the re-vote for whatver reason and feel disenfranchised, I can only encourage you to vote for your favorite prospect today and in future polls. One thing that all of you can do in future rounds is leave comments about who you voted for and why. That way when any player gets a lot of votes, there are comments supporting those votes.

Pat Dean didn't receive the required two percent of this round and will be dropped from the next round. Added to this round are two exciting young pitchers, B. J. Hermsen and Bobby Lanigan. Hermsen was the Twins sixth round pick in 2008. He signed after the Iowa summer high school season and had an impressive rookie season in the GCL in 2009 where he was 6-2 with a 1.35 ERA. Hermsen split this past season between Beloit and Elizabethton where he was 2-2 with a 3.82 ERA with 39 strikeouts and only 4 walks in 38.0 innings.

Lanigan began his season in Ft. Myers where he was 3-1 with a 2.15 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 54.1 innings. He moved up to New Britain where he was 2-3 with a 5.23 ERA in 41.1 innings.

I again want to encourage you to leave comments about who you voted for and players you would like to see added to future rounds. Voting for this round will remain open through 3pm, Friday, December 31st. Please note that as we did over Christmas, the next round will be open for two days through Sunday afternoon. [Note: Weather permitting, going to a movie early this afternoon. Poll will likely close around 5 or 6pm, with Round 19 posted at that time]
