Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50

New, 5 comments

With the Winter Meetings ending tomorrow, Twinkie Town will get started on our selection of the Twins Organization Top 50. There will be a few changes from last year which will be explained following the jump. There will also be a new process in selecting our Top prospect.

Each day's balloting will be posted on the site by 4pm each afternoon and will stay open until 3pm the following day.

The changes are:

1) If two or more players are within 3 votes (3 or less) of the top vote getter, they will be considered tied. In that case, there will be a run-off the following day to determine the winner for that spot.

2) Unlike last year, the loser of a run-off will not get the following position. He will re-enter the poll for the following spot the next day.

3) Any player receiving less than 2% of the votes will be removed from voting for the next spot the following day.

4) Voting for the top spot will begin tomorrow and will be a two day process. Assuming the polling process allows this many selections, tomorrow's voting will include thirteen players (all of the top ten from last year who are still considered prospects (Sano, Hicks, Gibson, Revere, Morales, Bromberg, Tosoni and Deolis Guerra), and five others who had special years and should be considered for our top spot (Parmelee, Benson, Arcia, Hendriks and Wimmers). Those thirteen will appear on tomorrow's ballot.

Unless one player gets over 50% of the vote (in which case he would be the winner), the top group will appear for the final round of voting for our Top spot on Friday. The voting on Friday will be the top several players from Thursday's balloting which I expect will be somewhat obvious when the votes are all in.

If anyone thinks there is another player worthy of being included in voting for the top spot, other than those mentioned above, please let me know in the comment section.
