Game 11: Royals @ Twins

First Pitch: 7:10pm CST
TV: FSN
Radio: Twins Radio Network
Know Thine Enemy: Royals Review

Patron Saint: GREENMANASSAULT

Weather: game time temp of 54, wind NNW at 15 mph.

Target Field's first night game gives us the best team in the AL Central going up against the best pitcher in the American League. Sweet. Note to families attending the game this evening and looking for a bite to eat on Washington Ave.: Deja Vu is not a restaurant.

Starting pitchers:

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Zack Greinke 0-1 2 2 0 0 0 0 12.2 14 6 5 2 1 9 3.55 1.18

The last time the Twins saw Greinke, it was kind of an important game. The stakes aren't nearly as high this evening, but Greinke is still six different kinds of nasty, and the Twins would be well-advised to do everything they can to get to the Royals bullpen.

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Scott Baker 1-1 2 2 0 0 0 0 11.2 10 5 5 1 4 6 3.86 1.20

The ace-less* staff's staff ace improved greatly from start 1 to start 2, and gets to make his first appearance at his new home. Lots of speculation about how Target Field's relatively scarce amount of foul territory could impact a pitcher like Baker, who induces a boatload of foul balls. We'll get our first glimpse of that tonight.

*Pending Liriano's next start or three.

Lineups after the jump:

Lineup

Kansas City Royals @ Minnesota Twins

04/16/10 8:10 PM EDT

Kansas City Royals Minnesota Twins
David DeJesus - RF Denard Span - CF
Scott Podsednik - LF Orlando Hudson - 2B
Billy Butler - 1B Joe Mauer - C
Jose Guillen - DH Justin Morneau - 1B

Alberto Callaspo - 3B Jason Kubel - DH
Jason Kendall - C Delmon Young - LF
Yuniesky Betancourt - SS J.J. Hardy - SS
Chris Getz - 2B Brendan Harris - 3B

So THAT"S where Podsednik ended up. Anyway, we get Harris instead of Punto at third, as LNP is sidelined for a couple days with the dreaded sore groin, says 1500ESPN's Tom Pelissero, who also notes that Pat Neshek could end up on the DL with his bum finger. (Heh. "Bum finger.") Enjoy the game, everyone.
