Pavano's been the best Twins starter over his first two appearances of the year. He pitches today with an opportunity to do his part in helping the Twins win their fourth of four series to start the season.

Hochevar was solid his first time out, less so his last time around, but the Twins' success today will have a lot to do with how effective his slider is. It's his best pitch and it's not even close. If he can locate it and get guys to swing and miss, then suddenly that 93 mph fastball becomes more effective as well. Everything comes off that slider, a pitch that he's historically thrown a little more than 20% of the time.
