Hey, thanks again, Lonnie Smith.
Very nice pitching match-up between two survivors of Tommy John Surgery tonight. Liriano has pitched 6+ innings in 10 of 11 starts. This is good. He's also owned interleague play: 7-1, 2.67 ERA, .198 batting average, 61 Ks in 54 IP. This is also good. After last night's clusterfluff, a shutdown start from the staff ace would be most welcome, and he's definitely owed a victory after getting Crainwreck'd in his last start.
If you remember the early '00s, Hudson had the Twins over a barrel when he was with the A's, but he hasn't beaten them since July of 2003. His interleague numbers are dreadful: 1-11 with a 7.27 ERA in 14 starts since joining the Braves.
Jim Thome's career numbers vs. Hudson: 9-for-16, 4 taters mashed. I would start him tonight if I were Gardy. (SPOILER ALERT: he's starting.)

- In J.J. Hardy's renewed absence, Gardy threatened to start Brendan Harris a couple times in the interim. Oof.
Enjoy the game and the humidity, everybody.
