Know Thine Enemy: Purple Row
Baker is looking to recover from a pair of sub-par starts, in terms of runs, as he's recorded a quality start just once in his last four outings. The best thing he can do is to do what Pavano did last night: attack hitters by throwing strikes, and try to avoid base runners so that when the home run comes (let's be honest, we should probably expect at least one) it isn't as detrimental.
Chacin is a 22-year old right hander who can strike out a guy or two. Per inning. He's a pretty even-keel pitcher, with a standard four-pitch arsenal. He throws a low-90s fastball and a low-80s changeup, but his bread and butter are his breaking balls. He'll usually set everything up with the fastball, but he throws this pitch just a little more than half the time. Watch to see what he throws when he gets into trouble, because if he starts going to the breaking balls right away it should be an interesting night.
GIAMBI SIGHTING! And a Mora sighting. Good thing this isn't 2005.
