2010 - Cole Hamels 6-5 13 13 0 0 0 0 79.1 79 35 33 14 27 78 3.74 1.34

The 26-year old southpaw has pitched far better since the calendar turned to May. The home run rates are slowly regressing to the mean, and he's been better in terms of throwing strikes as well. It's helped quite a bit that his fastball has been effective this season, which helps compliment his changeup--one of the best in baseball when Hamels is on his game.

Right handers have had more success hitting the ball against Hamels (.291 average versus .144 for left-handed hitters), but Hamels also seems to struggle with control at times versus left-handers (5.21 BB/9 versus 2.39 against righties). Either way, the Twins will need to hit well today, and having a little luck on our side wouldn't hurt either.

2010 - Kevin Slowey 7-4 14 13 0 0 0 0 75.0 86 33 32 10 16 55 3.84 1.36

Kevin was roughed up a bit his last time out, and his job doesn't get any easier today. His job today will be to pitch to contact; strikeouts should be a secondary concern compared to simply racking up outs. With the Twins running through pretty much every reliever last night, efficiency will also be key. If Slowey is on, he's capable of carving the Phillies up...but we haven't really seen him at his best this season yet. Today would be a good time to see him on form.
