Know Thine Enemy: Let's Go Tribe
It's game one of a three-game series with Cleveland at Target Field. Could be a chance of a late-afternoon thunderstorm; here's hoping it holds off.
Probable Pitchers
Baker was pushed back to the end of the Twins rotation to give time for a cortisone shot in his elbow to work its magic. The righty says that it's "day and night," that's how much better he feels; he also thinks that he's starting to get everything mechanically right. One does wish that he would do these things before July 1, some year, but that's not important right now.
The Tribe thought that Laffey might be a long reliever this year, then decided to bring him back into the starting rotation. He made four starts before the All-Star break, going 1-2 and getting out of the fifth inning just twice in four tries. He posted a decent 4.50 ERA in those starts, but frankly, he's just your typical crafty left-hander. He'll be trying to bamboozle the Twins, who have two runs on six hits over 3.2 innings against Laffey this year (three appearances, all in relief.)
