2010 - John Danks 11-8 22 22 1 1 0 0 147.1 120 56 54 8 46 114 3.30 1.13

Danks is doing a lot of things right this season. He's averaging more than six innings per start, in striking out about seven batters per nine innings, has reduced his walk rate from last season, and for any number of reasons has drastically reduced his home run to fly ball ratio.
Against right-handed hitters he'll consistently try to hit the four corners of the strike zone, and won't be afraid to miss if it means getting someone to chase. He'll also go to what's been a great changeup this season far more often against righties. Versus left-handed hitters he likes to bust them up and in, but will mostly work away and low. He'll throw that changeup just 7% of the time (as opposed to 23% versus RHB), but he off-sets the extra use of his fastball with a few more breaking balls.

2010 - Glen Perkins (AAA) 4-9 23 23 0 0 0 0 117.0 152 89 79 14 32 91 6.08 1.57

This is going to be an interesting game, watching Perkins make his first Major League appearance in one year and three days. If last year is anything to go by, we'll remind you that he throws a 90 mph fastball, a decent slider in the low 80s and a changeup in the same range.

He doen't get many swinging strikes, doesn't induce too many chase swings and is another Twins hurler who has to pitch to contact. To do himself a few favors tonight: keep the ball low, don't let Sox hitters sit on his fastball, and don't be afraid to come inside from time to time to keep them honest. From there, if the ball stays in the park and finds gloves, we'll be good to go. Viva Perkins!
