Know Thine Enemy: Lone Star Ball
Wilson has been one of many bright surprises for Texas this season, making good on some talent and potential while also picking up a little luck. He throws an exceptionally good changeup and curve, which he's thrown more now that he's exclusively a starter, but he rarely throws them to left-handed hitters. Against lefties he's almost exclusively fastball-slider with an 80%-17% ratio respectively since the start of 2009.He has had some issues with walks this season, and can get into long counts which hurts his efficiency. Unfortunately, this season he's been very good at turning hitters' counts into outs, too. That's what happens when you keep hitters off-balance.
Can he spin another gem? Tonight would be a good time. He's been the Twins' best starter since coming into the rotation a month ago, and if the Twins want any hope of a series split in the heat of Texas they're going to need a strong one from their southpaw swingman.
