Know Thine Enemy: Royals Review
You kind of run out of good things to say about some of these guys once in a while. Duensing has simply been what we needed him to be...and that's been huge. If he pitches well tonight against an underwhelming Kansas City offense, he'll have a chance for another good game.
Like Liriano, he's had a pretty good slider this year. But he doesn't throw it nearly as often as Cisco, and definitely not enough to be in the discussion for baseball's best slider that we went over yesterday. This won't stop him from using it more often when he's ahead or in two-strike counts. As is to be expected, it disappears when he's behind. Right-handed hitters won't see many changeups.
In Twins-related news, it sounds like Brian Fuentes is getting an MRI done on his back. Jose Mijares doesn't look to be too far away, but come October I'd rather have Fuentes and Mijares in the 'pen as lefties than Mijares and, say, Perkins.
Let's go, offense.
