Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect #20

Manuel Soliman won the Nineteenth spot in this year's poll with 60 of 270 (22%) votes. Trevor Plouffe was seven votes back with Rene Tosoni and Anthony Slama separated by only one vote in their battle for third.

Bobby Lanigan didn't have two percent, thus will be dropped from the next round. Added to the Twentieth round will be pitchers Tom Stuifbergen and Cesar Ciurcina. Stuifbergen received a lot of publicity when he started the decisive first round championship game in the WBC against the Dominican Republic. A year ago, many considered Stuifbergen to be an equal talent to Liam Hendriks. When healthy, he is very good as his 6-4 record with a 2.98 ERA with 88 strikeouts at Beloit would confirm. Unfortunately, he hasn't always been healthy as he was limited to 93.2 innings.

Cesar Ciurcina was one of the top pitchers for the DSL Twins in 2009 where he was 9-2 with a 1.39 ERA in 84.0 innings. He moved up to the GCL Twins this past summer where he led the league in innings pitched (65.0), with a 5-4 record and the league's eleventh best ERA (2.91). Ciurcina, who turned twenty a few months ago, is pitching very well this winter as a starter for Aragua in his native Venezuela.

Voting for the Twentieth Prospect will remain open through 4pm, Monday, January 3rd.
