At this time it is important that we keep all those fighting for their lives and the families of those killed in Tucson in our thoughts and prayers. May God comfort them as they deal with their losses.
As for baseball today here at Twinkie Town, Luke Hughes received 68 of 214 votes (31%) to win the Twenty-Fifth spot in this year's poll. B. J. Hermsen was second with 46 votes while recently drafted Scott Diamond was third with 33 votes. The last five places went to: 21) Trevor Plouffe; 22) Dakota Watts; 23) Anthony Slama; 24) Kane Holbrooks; and 25) Luke Hughes.
All players received more than two percent of the votes, therefore, only one player will be added to the next round. Considering that Brian Dozier was the lone all-star at Ft. Myers this season, I felt it is important to bring him back after his elimination several rounds ago. Dozier was an eighth round pick in the 2009 draft who began his season at Beloit where he hit .278/.347/.338 in 151 at bats. Dozier moved on to Ft. Myers where he hit .274/.352/.354 with ten stolen bases. Dozier, who had one of the highest batting averages (.355) in the Appalachian League in 2009, just may be the top shortstop prospect in the organization.
With all the football games this weekend, this round will remain open through 3pm, Monday, January 10th. Please continue to comment as to who you voted for and why as well as your suggestions for players to be added in the next few rounds.
