Not a done deal, (UPDATE: Rhett Bollinger says it is, pending a physical.) but multiple outlets are reporting this, with Rosenthal Tweeting that they're close to a 2-year deal, and that Carroll would be the everyday shortstop. Reaction seems to be mixed, but I don't think anyone expected that Jose Reyes would be the answer, and just by not running Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Trevor Plouffe back out there, the Twins have upgraded themselves at shortstop.

That said, my life coach Michael Rand just noted that LNP GET MONEY has out-homered Carroll 14-12 for their careers, despite Carroll having 400 more at-bats. So, there's that.

Assuming this will be a budget-conscious deal, it's one less signing that takes away the money needed to sign a (starting pitcher/back-up catcher who may need to play more than that/Michael Cuddyer).

Thoughts?
