It's December today, which should be exciting to those of you who enjoy the Hot Stove League over the winter - it's almost time for baseball's Winter Meetings.
Unbelievably, there's actually a schedule of events for the Winter Meetings, but it almost doesn't matter. The Winter Meetings are the time of the winter when everybody who's anybody in baseball, and especially everybody who's anybody on the free-agent market, is gathered in one place. It's the Davos of baseball. It's also the sport's equivalent of a swap meet. Everything's for sale! No reasonable offer refused, unless Scott Boras is involved!
Here at Twinkie Town, we're working hard to cover this event forwards and backwards, sideways and widthways. The meetings themselves run from next Monday through next Thursday, and we'll have updates throughout the day for the community to discuss the latest news, rumors, and Michael Cuddyer sightings. ("Jon Heyman says he's eating Chicken McNuggets in the parking lot! WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?")
We'll also have our best and brightest previewing the meetings over the next couple of days, and wrapping up the whole thing the day after, so keep tuning back here. This is as good as it gets until Spring Training opens, and if we're lucky, by this time next week we'll have a few more reasons to be optimistic about the Twins in 2012.
