Know Thine Enemy: Let's Go Tribe!
I always think of former Twin Hector Carrasco every time we face Carlos. In his career he's 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA against Minnesota. Carlos is. Not Hector, who was 14-11 with an ERA of 4.53 AS a Twin.
Anyway, not having too much first-hand experience watching Carrasco there seems to be some confusion in terms of what Pitchfx thinks he throws. Inside Edge charts fastballs, curveballs and changeups, but FanGraphs throws a slider into the equation. At any rate he really likes his breaking balls, especially against right-handed batters who will see them about 30% of the time. Against left handers Carrasco will throw a few more fastballs and more changeups as well. He typically works down in the zone as well, even though his ground ball rates this season don't reflect his career tendencies.
Liriano had his best outing this past week, but he's still the owner of a 1-to-1 walk to strikeout ratio. A great outing at home would mean a lot not just for him, but for a fanbase that really wants to believe that he can be their ace.
