Who? Well, let me tell you.
Gomez is a 23-year old right hander who made his debut with the Indians last season, making 11 starts and generally holding his own. This season he's off to a slow start, but with just that one start under his belt it's difficult to know what to expect from him today.
His fastball sits right around 90mph, and he compliments it with an okay slider and a changeup that he particularly likes to throw against lefties. It's often his weakest pitch, however, as opponents strike it for a .400 batting average on balls in play.
I feel as though Pavano has pitched better than his numbers for the most part, but A) it would be nice to see him put another outing together that's strong from start to finish, and B) it would be good to see his offense give him a little support. More than anything, I really just think he needs to bring back the 'stache.
