2012 Winter Meetings Stream, Day 3

Is today the day that the Twins start landing a pitcher or two?

USA Today Sports

With the promise and delivery of a hyperactive front office over the first two days of the 2012 Winter Meetings, all parties involved are starting to look for results. Here's a rundown of what we've experienced so far. Let us know if there is anything you feel we've missed.

  • The Twins have been in touch with, seemingly, any pitcher with a pulse. Off the top of my head we've seen the Twins tied in various ways to Shaun Marcum, Francisco Liriano, John Lannan, Jair Jurrjens, Joe Blanton, Kevin Correia, Joe Saunders, Brandon McCarthy, Mike Pelfrey, Vicente Padilla, Ryan Dempster, and...others.
  • There will be competition for Trevor Plouffe at third base, but the team doesn't see Ian Stewart as a fit.
  • Jack Hannahan met with the Twins on Monday and wants to play for Minnesota. He left the meeting without an offer, which isn't a surprise, but I'm sure Hannahan wants to go where he'll be able to play at least semi-regularly. The Twins fit that bill. He's willing to wait to see if Minnesota sends him an offer, but it doesn't sound like he'll wait past Thursday. He'll want to sign quickly.
More as the day progresses!
