The Minnesota Twins have placed right-hander P.J. Walters on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. To replace Walters on their roster, the Twins recalled right-hander Lester Oliveros from Triple-A.

Walters started for the Twins last night in their game against the Philadelphia Phillies but didn’t survive the first inning. The 27-year-old was pulled after allowing four consecutive hits and before recording an out.

Walters made his debut for the Twins on May 12 and went on to start seven games for the club. Before he was charged with four earned runs before recording an out last night, Walters had maintained an ERA of 4.42 on the year. Including last night’s start, Walters hits the DL with an ERA and WHIP of 5.40 and 1.527 with 5.6 SO/9 and 3.4 BB/9.

Oliveros, 24, made his major league debut last season, posting an ERA and WHIP of 4.64 and 1.500 over his 21 and 1/3 combined innings with the Detroit Tigers and Twins.

The right-hander began the 2012 season with Minnesota’s Double-A affiliate and had since been promoted to Triple-A. Over his combined 25 appearances spanning 36 2/3 innings between the two levels, Oliveros maintained an ERA and WHIP of 2.70 and 1.036.
