The Twins fell just short of completing some late-game heroics last night against Jonathan Broxton, but failed because Joe Mauer merely hit an RBI double instead of a 3-run homer last night (I'm totally joking here, folks). The Twins send their best pitcher to the mound this afternoon in Scott Diamond, and they get to face Jonathan Sanchez, who has looked very mortal since coming over to the American League in the trade for Melky Cabrera. I'll admit, when that trade was made, I was sure that the Royals would end up being the winners. Instead, the Melk Man has turned in an excellent sequel to last year's breakout campaign and the Giants appear to have swindled KC.
If I had my druthers, Chris Parmelee would start in place of Justin Morneau (.096/.141/.192 vs. LHP this season), but we all know Gardy won't do that.
