- Ron Gardenhire was on with Reusse & Mackey this afternoon on 1500ESPN, and said that Joe Mauer was unlikely to play or be available to pinch-hit this evening. He is not in the lineup, nor is Denard Span. Chris Parmelee returns and is playing at first. (UPDATE: per multiple outlets, Span is out with the flu; Mauer WILL be available to pinch hit if needed.)
- Per MLB.com, Alfonso Soriano has faced P.J. Walters five times in his career, and has struck out each time.
