Know Thine Enemy: Bless You Boys
Tonight, the Minnesota Twins do battle with the Detroit Tigers. It'll be right handed pitcher, Samuel Deduno against fellow right handed pitcher, Anibal Sanchez.
This will be Deduno's 6th start for the Twins, and he is all in all having a decent season.
Walks have always been the big issue for Deduno. He has walked 25 batters in 33 innings pitched. He'll have to do something about that against this patient Detroit lineup, that is third in MLB in OBP. He'll have to throw strikes and get hitters to chase. If he can do that, he has the potential to dominate.
Anibal Sanchez will be stepping up to the mound for Detroit tonight to make his fourth Tigers start. The two of the first three have been something to forget about.
In his first 15 Tiger innings, the 28 year old right handed pitcher has given up 23 hits, and 13 earned runs. He has a WHIP of 2.000 and a BB/9 of 4.2 which he will also have to fix against this Twins team that is 4th in OBP right behind the Detroit Tigers. He got absolutely decimated in his last start against the Yankees, giving up 7 earned runs in three innings in front of the Comerica Park faithful.
