Today the last place Twins open up a 3 game tilt against the second place Oakland Athletics. This will be what seems like the 450th game these two teams have played against each other this season. It turns out it is only it will only be the 7th.
Tonight's starter for Minnesota is left handed pitcher Brian Duensing.
Duensing went a full 6 innings last time out against the Detroit Tigers. He gave up 8 hits and 5 runs, including a home run to non-slugger Andy Dirks. Tonight Duensing is going to try to take advantage of the expansive outfield in Oakland. Which should be nice for him since over his last several starts he's given up more fly balls and line drives than anything else.
Oakland has right handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy going tonight.
McCarthy went 6.2 innings last night, and gave up 7 hits and only 2 runs. He struck out 4 in his second start back from his second trip to the DL. The Twins are going to look to Justin Morneau to lead the charge against McCarthy tonight, as he's batting .438 and slugging .500 against him over his career. Joe Mauer on the other hand is batting a paltry .154.
At the time of this writing, lineups haven't been posted yet, so I will try to get them in there as soon as I see them, or somebody may beat me to it and post them in the comments! Enjoy the game!
