Ladies and gentlemen, this one has the potential to get ugly. After yesterday's 4-2 victory added another notch to the #SpoilerTour2K12 bedpost, the Twins have a challenge today in facing Tigers ace Justin Verlander. To make things worse, the Twins counter with P.J. Walters, which I can't see him making it through Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder without allowing at least one home run. However, Walters did pitch 6 innings with allowing only 1 run in his last start against Detroit, which was Game 2 of that doubleheader last Sunday.
If you've been keeping an eye on the batting title, Miggy extended his lead to .005 (,327 - 322) over Joe Mauer with a 2 for 4 day yesterday. Meanwhile, Mauer was walked twice and went 0 for 2 in his official ABs. Like I mentioned before, it doesn't get any easier for Mauer in facing Verlander, while Cabrera should be feasting on those floating slurve-like things and change-ups from Walters. Now we'll watch in amazement as naturally Mauer will go 3 for 3 and Miggy has an 0-fer.
I'm working the game today so I don't know if I'll be able to get lineups posted.
Twins
SP P.J. Walters (2-4, 5.88)
