Twins Outright Doug Bernier

Journeyman infielder has been outrighted off the 40-man roster.

Two days following the release of four other players, the Minnesota Twins have removed infielder Doug Bernier from the 40-man roster. Bernier started for roughly three weeks following his debut on July 21, and from there was moved into a backup infielder role and started just four games between August 15 and the end of the season; his last start was September 1.

In a lost season Bernier was unfortunately one of the lost players. We didn't document his callup but we mentioned his first game appearance and, in a not as flattering memory, he was bestowed the honor of the Worst Plate Appearance of 2013.

Bernier's stint with the Twins was his first since two games with the Rockies in 2008. His final line on the season is .226/.339/.283 with eight walks and 15 strikeouts.
