Jason Kubel Signs Minor-League Deal With Twins

Per Jon Heyman of CBS and Doogie, the Twins and Jason Kubel have agreed on a minor-league deal.  One assumes a spring training invite is part of the deal.

Kubel, 31, was a 12th-round draft pick of the Twins in 2000, and made the bigs in 2004 before vaporizing his knee in winter ball.  He got back to Minnesota in 2006, where he established himself as a mobility-challenged outfielder who was a very good power threat from the left side of the plate.  His best season was probably 2009 (28 dongs, 103 ribbies, .300 BA, .907 OPS, and a handful of MVP votes).

Kubes, as I like to call him, signed with the Diamondbacks after the 2011 season, and put together a very nice 30 dinger campaign for them in 2012.  He split time between Arizona and Cleveland last year and didn't do a whole hell of a lot (SABR term).  The Tribe didn't pick up his $7 million option.
