Good morning Twins fans! It was a rough defeat last night, but here are some links for you to enjoy today:
- The Twins have a brand new commercial out featuring bobbleheads playing baseball in a miniature Target Field, and Yahoo!'s David Brown goes through some of the awesome details. Brown seems to get a little confused though--specifically, he fails to recognize Sid Hartman, asks when they are giving out the Minnie and Paul bobblehead (2010, David), and calls TC just "a bear"!!!
- Mark Berardino of the Pioneer Press goes over some of the details about the Slapshot inspired video the Twins made to encourage the Wild in their playoff efforts last weekend. Here's one: Morneau refused to be in it.
- Yahoo!'s Darin McGilvra writes about the five reasons it's hard to be a Twins fan, like how the Twins are poor, Ron Gardenhire, can't win in the playoffs, so and and so fourth. Hey Darin--are you even a Twins fan?
- Joe Mauer really gave home-plate umpire Tim Timmons a piece of his mind after striking out looking in the 9th inning last Saturday against the Indians. "I just told him it was out," Mauer told reporters.
- Did you know 21 year old Aaron Hicks--a teenage golf prodigy, who would be playing professional golf if not for baseball--has FIVE holes in one?
- Baseball America named the Twins single A Fort Myer's Miracle as the country's best minor league team for April 2013, led by top prospect Miguel Sano. The second best minor league team in April? The Twins low-A Cedar Rapid Kernels, led by the Twins minor league player of the month Byron Buxton.
- Ready for another piece on Miguel Sano? Good, because ESPN has one.
- Ready for another piece of Byron Buxton? Good, because 1500 ESPN has one.
- The Gazette--news rag of eastern Iowa--has a Q&A with first-year Minnesota Twins director of minor league operations Brad Steil.
- Last week the Twins announced The Twins Midwest Music Showcase series, which will bring local music acts to Target field on eight Wednesdays between May and August. The acts will include The 4onthefloor, Jack Knife and the Sharps, Hitchville, P.O.S., Rocket Club, Trampled by Turtles, and--wait for it--GB Leighton!!
- Target Field is also getting more art.
