Pitcher Preview: P.J. Walters and Jeremy Guthrie

What to expect from tonight's starting pitchers

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

Tonight will be the second 2013 season start for P.J. Walters with the Minnesota Twins starting rotation, who will be facing the Royals' struggling veteran, Jeremy Guthrie. A little bit about the pitchers...

P.J. Walters

2013 - P.J. Walters 2-0 2 2 0 0 0 0 12.0 18 6 6 1 2 7 4.50 1.67

Tonight, Walters will be looking to improve on his start from last Thursday against the Brewers, when he gave up 10 hits and 4 runs in 6.2 innings. He started strong, going 5 scoreless before running into trouble in the sixth and seventh innings. Hopefully he will be able to quiet the KC offense tonight as Deduno was able to do last night in the Twins win.

Jeremy Guthrie

#11 / Pitcher / Kansas City Royals

All I'd like to tell you about Jeremy Guthrie is that Joe Mauer has a career .571 batting average against him, and Ryan Doumit is hitting 1.000 against Guthrie with a home run.

The game thread will be posted an hour before the game -- make sure you stop by to join the conversation and cheer on the Twins as they look to win Game 2 against Kansas City.
