While the trade rumors market remains quiet, at least in terms of Twins players, here are a few nuggets of note worth a mention on an off day.
- Joe Mauer has been reinstated as of today, meaning he can join the team tomorrow when they open up a series against Kansas City. It will be his first game since last Monday, when Papa Joe had gone 3-for-4. It'll be good to have him back, but you know that if he could take more time off to be with his wife and premature twins - he would. And with a sense of perspective, who could blame him?
- Drew Butera's stint with the Twins lasts two games and three at-bats, in which he was 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Apparently he has one option year remaining, since he's been optioned to Rochester. He remains on the 40-man roster for the time being.
- Wilkin Ramirez has been cleared to begin his rehab stint, having sufficiently pleased his doctors that his concussion like symptoms have passed. The Twins could recall him anytime between a few days from now and three weeks, depending on Ramirez's progress and how he looks. Clete Thomas has hit .176/.263/.250 since July 1, and if that performance continues it's easy to see Ramirez taking his place at some point in August.
That's all for now. We'll see you later tonight.
