Game recap: Rays 7, Twins 4, Longball hurts Twins in defeat

Welp, you see why that is a fifty win team, and were ahh, well a terrible team. The Rays who have never really been known to knock the ball around, as it is their pitching staff that has always been their savior. However it was a couple of sixth inning home runs that sealed the deal for the Rays, in tonight's defeat at Tropicana. Sam Deduno surrendered the lead in the bottom of the first as Luke Scott went ya-ya for his sixth of the year. The Rays would get another one in the 2nd courtesy of a Jose Molina RBI single. Our boys would get on the board when minor league lead-off hitter extraordinaire, Brian Dozier doubled scoring Aaron Hicks. I did buy a lottery ticket today, and although I did not win, something else freaky happened, Justin Morneau hit a home run... The Twins would take the lead in that inning when Trevor Plouffe singled and Oswaldo Arcia did the same before getting greedy, as he was tagged out trying to go down to 2nd on the play. It was Chris Parmelee hitting a sacrifice fly in the next at bat scoring Plouffe.

It all unraveled in the 7th when Yunel Escobar broke a 3-3 tie with a solo blast off Deduno. Desmond Jennings would follow with a triple, spelling the end for Sammy. With Deduno's day done, and for the first time in probably ever, Gardy went with a lefty, not named Brian Duensing. Instead, he opted for "His Holiness" Caleb Thielbar. Yes, I dubbed with his "His Holiness" I am sorry but I am not on board with Meat Raffle, the St. Paul Saints turned his career around and therefore he is "His Holiness." Unfortunately, the gods were not with Thielbar today, as Twins Killer Ben Zobrist, took Thielbar deep making it a 6-3 lead. It also ended Thielbar's scoreless streak at twenty innings. It was valiant effort my friend, not to mention, Zobrist has been raking the Twins since Joe Mauer was hitting dingers in 2009. The Rays would get one more off of Ryan Presley and despite a late ninth inning comeback, it was Fernando Rodney needing to come in, to get Dozier and Baby Jesus to line out to end the ball game. The curious case of Aaron Hicks continued today, as he went 4-4 with a triple, two doubles and fell just a homer short of the cycle.
