GameThread: Twins at Indians, Game 128

The Twins look to take another game from the Indians.

Leon Halip

Hey everybody, sorry for being so slow with getting the game thread together. Being a Twins employee, I got to play in the Pohlad softball tournament this morning/afternoon, with the championship games being played at Target Field. We promptly lost our first game 21-0 so we were moved to the loser's bracket, and after that.... well, why else would I have been slow with getting the game thread up? That's right, my Guest Services team will be playing at Target Field!

This will be pretty bare for now, but I'm planning on adding more into the thread once I get to an actual home and not in the driver's seat of my car. 6:05 pm start, by the way.

Liam Hendriks (0-1, 3.94)

Liam Hendriks was called up from the minors for this game, making only his 4th start of the season. He's had good control in his career, but has had issues with striking out hitters, making him yet another "pitch-to-contact" hurler in the Twins organization.

Hendriks throws a 5-pitch mix, which involves a 4-seam fastball, 2-seamer, curveball, slider, and change-up. None of his pitches have rated as above-average in his career, though if we really must, his pair of fastballs have been the best according to FanGraphs.

Zach McAllister (6-7, 3.59)

McAllister has enjoyed a pretty solid season this year as his ERA is in the mid-3s. He hasn't spent the whole year with the Indians however, and actually was supposed to start tomorrow's game. However, the Indians chose to flip-flop McAllister with the original scheduled starter Scott Kazmir, citing that they wanted to get Kazmir an extra day of rest.

McAllister also has 5 pitches like Hendriks, although he throws a splitter instead of a change-up. Also, again like Hendriks, McAllister's two fastballs are rated as his best pitches.
