This week's stud of the week:
Justin Morneau
Despite being a big name in trade discussions leading up to last Wednesday's MLB trade deadline, nothing seemed to phase 10+ year Twins veteran Justin Morneau. The day before the deadline was Morneau packing his bags? Heck no. He was taking part as an ambassador for NEXT YEAR'S All Star-Game to be held at Target Field.
Even Ron Gardenhire was surprised. "I asked him how he got in on the 2014 logo if he's not going to be here," Gardy told reporters. Want to know why, Gardy? Because Justin is a stud.
Not to mention, the STATS:
Before Trade Deadline: Morneau averaged one home run for every 46.9 at-bats.
After Trade Deadline: Morneau averaged one home run for every
9.5 at-bats.
BOOM. YOU CAN'T FIGHT SCIENCE.
Also, "Jason" Morneau--winner of the 2008 Home Run Derby--had the balls to say he'd love to be the a Home Run Derby Captain at the 2014 home run derby at Target Field. Justin's contract ends at the end of this season, so how does he even know he'll be back!?
Morneau clearly wants to stay a Twin, and very confidently stay a Twin. For that, Justin, you are the Twinkie Town Stud of the Week.
STUD OF THE WEEK RUNNER UP: Terry Ryan, for the Drew Butera trade in the last minute before the trade deadline. I just couldn't give this to you two weeks in a row, Terry dogg!
