Pre-Game Reading

  • Be sure to check out our Pitcher's Preview. I think Hernandez is pitching for his future, even if it isn't with the Twins, and I also briefly cover how Price's game has changed this season.
  • Gardy is in the process of evaluating Alex Presley's defensive capabilities, in order to see how good of a defender he actually is. The starting center field job in 2014 could be Presley's, and if he can impress the Twins in center down the stretch it'll be his job to lose in spring training.
  • Samuel Deduno is having arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder. That knocks him out for any winter ball action, but it does mean that he should be ready to compete come spring training. Deduno wasn't on the Twins 40-man roster last winter after pitching for the team in 2012, but based on his performance this season I think he'll be one of the guys that avoids the annual November cull.
