Astros
23 year-old rookie Jarred Cosart made his debut with the Astros back on July 12th, and has been doing a pretty stellar job ever since. Cosart hasn't had a win in his past seven starts because, well, Astros--but look at that sparkling 1.59 ERA.
The Twins faced Cosart in Minneapolis back on August 2nd, and were only able to crack 1 earned run off him over 7 innings. If you can recall, the Twins did go on to win that game, however, with Brian Dozier driving in the tying RBI in the bottom of the 9th, and the winning RBI in the bottom of the 13th--because, well, Astros.
Cosart's appeared a little more shakey in his last start against the White Sox. Altough he did only give up 1 earned run over 6 innings, he had to work out of a lot of trouble, having given up 7 hits and 6 walks (to the White Sox).
Let's home the Twins can crack Cosart today.
Twins
Pedro Hernandez has been rehabbing a forearm strain since early July, so tonight will be his first major league start since June 23rd. We last was Pedro Hernandez when he pitched in the AA New Britain Rock Cats game that was aired on FSN a couple weeks ago. In his two rehab starts for the Rock Cats, Pedro held a 0.82 ERA over 11 innings--but one would hopefully expect a pitcher starting in the majors now would have those numbers in AA.
Hernandez has never faced the Astros before, so hopefully the Twins have a little mystery on their side.
Plus, it's the Astros.
