Jays Notes
- Jose Bautista will not play the rest of the season, which is good, good news for the Twins. In 144 career plate appearances against the Twins, he is batting .333 / .413 / .849 - far and away his best numbers against any team. He's also hit 19 home runs against Minnesota, tied for second with Tampa (but in 318 PA) and behind Boston (25, but in 320 PA).
- Look out for reliever Jeremy Jeffress, who can hit 100 mph on the radar gun, but can't necessarily hit the catcher. Those guys are always fun. Remember Mike MacDougal on the Royals? He was fun.
- Ricky Romero thinks that his problems are behind him, which is pretty big talk for a guy who was an All-Star in 2011 but had a 5.78 ERA in pretty much a full season at Triple-A this year.
Twins Notes
- You can see Joe Mauer talk about his recovery from his concussion here, filmed by LEN3, who managed to make it look like Mauer was possessed by the demon ghost of Mike Redmond.
- Phil Miller thinks that Josmil Pinto is basically a poor man's Wilson Ramos. (Bill Smith is making some trade calls.)
- The Twins bullpen has thrown the most innings in baseball, and has the league's fifth-best ERA in doing so. (Imagine if they'd been as terrible as we thought they might be. The Twins would have lost 120 games this year.)
