The P-Flo's Been Slowed

Pedro Florimon is having his appendix removed!

"Your heart starts racing when you get a call at 3:30 in the middle of the night," Twins Assistant GM Rob Antony told Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press. That's what happened yesterday morning, when short stop Pedro "P-Flo" Florimon called the Twins medical staff Twins director of Team Travel Mike Herman complaining about stomach pain.

Herman brought Pedro to the hospital where doctors discovered he had an inflamed appendix. Pedro will have his appendix removed "laparoscopically," which is apparently something doctors can do to cut down on recovery time. Pedro will miss about two weeks of spring training.

Had he waited until his appendix actually ruptured, P-Flo would have missed five to six weeks.
