Alex Presley Claimed by Astros, Chris Parmelee and Scott Diamond Clear Waivers

The Twins are cleaning house.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

You have to give credit where it's due. The Twins have seen what they have in-house, and they don't like it. Instead of sticking by players in whom they've invested or who held down jobs in 2013, the front office is clearing roster space. The only question is: for whom?

Alex Presley was claimed off waivers today by the Houston Astros. He should become Houston's fourth outfielder and backup center fielder, behind Dexter Fowler. Chris Parmelee and Scott Diamond have both cleared waivers today, and have 48 hours to decide whether or not to accept their assignments to Triple-A Rochester.

The Twins will have 36 players on their 40-man roster, and right now it's safe to assume that Jason Kubel will be added. It's also distinctly possible that Jason Bartlett will be added, meaning the Twins would go north with a bench of Josmil Pinto, Chris Colabello, Eduardo Escobar, and Bartlett...with the latter two possibly acting as emergency center fielders.

Stay tuned, folks. The Twins aren't done yet.
