Twins News: Oswaldo Arcia to the DL, Darin Mastroianni Called Up

That's disappointing.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Twins finally gave up the ghost yesterday afternoon and put Oswaldo Arcia on the disabled list. Arcia, who hasn't played since Friday, continues to have soreness in his right wrist. Being unavailable along with Josh Willingham put a crunch on Ron Gardenhire's outfield options and it was only a matter of time before the club was forced to make a decision on one or both players. So far they've moved on Arcia, but will apparently wait on Willingham, who is expected to hit in the batting cage today.

Taking Arcia's place on the roster will be Darin Mastroianni. He's been added to the 40-man roster and will be with the team today for the series finale against Oakland. Maestra was 9-for-20 in four games with the Red Wings, including two doubles, four strikeouts, and no walks.

Minnesota now has one spot open on its 40-man roster. It's worth speculating whether, should Willingham's situation not improve in the next day or two, the Twins choose to call up Eduardo Nunez. That's a ticking clock if the Twins have one.

We'll see you back here later today!
