Pre-Game Notes

  • The Twins have historically smashed James Shields around, at least by the standards of the current active roster, posting a .306/.370/.476 triple slash against him in 170 combined plate appearances.
  • Chris Colabello (5 ABs), Brian Dozier (16), Jason Kubel (23), Joe Mauer (37), and non-roster player Eduardo Nunez (18) all have an OPS over 1.000 against Shields. Josh Willingham, now on the disabled list, is the only other player with an OPS over .800, however.
  • Norichika Aoki, Alcides Escobar, Omar Infante, and Justin Maxwell have all of Kansas City's experience versus Ricky Nolasco: 17 at-bats.
  • Is anyone else surprised at how well Trevor Plouffe, Chris Colabello, and Jason Kubel have done hitting 3-4-5 for this team? It can't last. Right?
