Red Sox 1, Twins 0: Twins leave bases loaded in the eighth, earn loss

Twins prove that loading the bases is the biggest trap ever while Kevin Correia is once again quietly competent.

Kevin Correia pitched six innings while giving up only one run, but the effort was not enough for a Twins win. Despite numerous scoring chances, the Twins were shut out and beaten 1-0, with the only run of the game coming off a sacrifice fly hit by old-friend A.J. Pierzynski.

The Twins didn't lose for lack of effort, though. In the top of the eighth inning, Kurt Suzuki and Sam Fuld both hit to get on base, followed by Danny Santana getting hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. Brian Dozier, of all players, failed to deliver at the plate and sent the Twins into the bottoming of the inning still down a run. Red Sox uber closer Koji Uehara came in for the 9th an shut down the Twins for the Red Sox win.
